Directions to Hotel:

 

     1. From East or West: NYS Thruway to Exit 34A. After toll booth take Route 481 North.

     2. Take NYS Route 481 north to City of Oswego. Hotel on left at second traffic light.

                  

1.      From North or South: NYS Route 81 to State Route 481 north.

2.      Take NYS 481 north to City of Oswego. Hotel on left at second traffic light.

 

1.      From Rochester area: Slow, scenic route: take NYS Route 104 to Oswego. Once in the city follow

detour signs (bridge across Oswego River under repair) to get to First North Street. Turn left. Hotel on left.

                             Early Bird Special: (Walking Tour Map available at registration)

On your Own: All Friday Early Bird attractions are in the City of Oswego within walking distance of hotel.

 

H. Lee White Marine Museum: admission $4.50. Open 1-5 pm. Boats in harbor.

 

Richard Bates House Museum: admission charged. Open 10 am – 4 pm. House furnished 1890’s.

 

Fort Ontario: Admission $4.00 adults, seniors $3.00. Open 10 am -4 pm.

 

Safe Haven Museum: Admission charged. Open 12 pm -4 pm. Friday-Sunday. Museum of refugees from Nazi Holocaust.

 

Harbor Rail Trail: A pedestrian bridge over the Oswego River and canal. Trail also includes railroad tunnel.

 

                             Dinner:  On your own

 

Evening Program:  7:30 PM Econo Lodge Riverfront Hotel- preview of Saturday Field Trip by Todd Weseloh and Richard Palmer.

Bus Field Trip:  Depart Econo Lodge at 8:00 AM sharp.  Scheduled times and places are subject to change.

 

STOP 1:Mud Lock: Old Oswego Canal Lock No. 5.

 

STOP 2:Three Rivers: Junction of the Erie and Oswego Canals.

 

STOP 3: Phoenix, New York – Oswego Barge Canal Lock No. 1 and Bridge House Museum

 

STOP 4: Lunch Tavern on the Lock, Fulton, NY

 

STOP 5: NYS Canal Corporation Maintenance Facility:  Replaces the Syracuse Terminal Facility. River Road, Lysander, NY

  

STOP 6: Fulton, NY: Oswego Barge Canal Lock #3. Stop involves a walk along Barge Canal for .7 mile to Oswego Barge Canal Lock #2. Bus transportation for those who prefer to ride to Lock #2.

 

STOP 7: Oswego, NY: Oswego Barge Canal Lock #8.

 

Return to Hotel approximately 5:00 PM

Tour of Erie Canal Museum and Weighlock Building: Syracuse, NY. Tour lead by Todd Weseloh.
